The parts people get caught by elsewhere
The trial does not bill
It is a cap of 200 messages. There is no card to take, so there is nothing to charge on day fifteen.
Upgrading always beats overage
At every tier, reaching the next plan's volume on the smaller plan costs more than the bigger plan. We check that with a test.
We never see your card
Checkout and payment details are the provider's, on their pages. This system stores no card number anywhere.
Cancel from the same place
Plan changes and cancellation run through the provider's portal, not an email to us.
What counts as a message
One reply from the agent to a customer. A person reading your help centre costs nothing; a handover to your team costs nothing. Voice is billed the same way, per reply, not per minute.
What the alternatives cost
A month of each, worked out in the open. This is not a like-for-like comparison, and it is not a claim that the assistant replaces anyone.
| Option | A month | How it is worked out |
|---|---|---|
| A full-time support person | $3,731 | Median wage only: $44,770 a year ÷ 12. Before payroll tax, benefits, tools and management. |
| A part-time support person (20 hours a week) | $1,866 | $21.53 an hour × 20 hours × 52 weeks ÷ 12. Wages only. |
| Intercom Fin, 500 outcomes a month | $495 | $0.99 per Fin outcome × 500. Intercom's own seat plans are extra and not included. |
| Starter plan | $49 | 2,000 assistant messages included. |
| Growth plan | $199 | 10,000 assistant messages included. |
- A person handles what the assistant cannot: refunds, judgement calls, phone calls, an angry customer. The assistant hands those to your team.
- A message is one reply from the assistant. A conversation usually takes several, so 2,000 messages cover fewer than 2,000 conversations.
- Prices and wages change. Each outside figure is dated below; check the source before relying on it.

Will it pay for itself?
The support cost calculator works out what a ticket costs you and the share of tickets an agent would have to actually resolve before a plan covers its cost.
